I am designing a 3 way with the midrange in a separated from the woofers. How do I simulate both boxes in a software like vituixCAD so I can make the crossover. Any software/technique suggestions would be very much appreciated!
so, measure each box separately, and then when I model them in vituixCAD how do I account for the position of each speaker. Like what would that look like in the software
The driver positioning in VC is intended to account for lobing, and will manage delay at the same time. Therefore measure each under the same relative conditions (in other words don't use a common measurement position, use a common per driver technique). Then place your mounting separations into VC.
Oh I see, last question, in vituixCAD there are different setting when positioning speakers, such as infiite baffle, or other presets, which of those should I use?
Yes 🙂 I would highly recommend reading the "How to start working with VituixCAD" section in the help file. You'll find information on how to make measurements for several different programs (CLIO, ARTA, REW and SoundEasy) and links to several videos. It's a great way to get started and answer a lot of beginning questions. And you can check out the "VituixCAD for Newbies" thread too. Enjoy!
