Crossover repair

Hello,
I'm new to the forum so I hope I'm posting this in the correct area.

Can anyone recommend a business in the US that will repair and update crossovers from vintage speakers? I'm in the process of refurbishing and improving the cabs of a set of Technics speakers from the late 80's. I'm comfortable doing woodworking and wiring but tearing into delicate electronics is not my forte.

Thanks.

While I applaud your willingness to refer things you don;t know to people who do, I don;t think of speaker crossovers as particularly delicate.

ANY audio repair shop can work on crossovers. As circuits go they are simple, and most components on them are usually labelled, so a tech can easily identify parts without a schematic.

Are you certain you need any new parts on them?

You could probably also contact speaker reconers and ask if they also repair crossovers.

If your woofers have foam rubber surrounds - the flexible ring that connects the edge of the cone to the frame - check them for rot. If you poke them with a finger and it makes a hole, then they are rotted and needed replacement. ANy speaker reconer can "resurround" your woofers.

Good to know. Since I'm going through the trouble of bracing, lining, and veneering the cabs I might as well update the electronics as well. I've inspected the drivers and all of the materials appear to be in good condition.

Thanks for the info.
