Crossover mod to B&W Matrix 3 series 2

Hi

I am thinking about having my Matrix 3 S2 speaker xovers modified. Well actually installing polypropylene capacitors for the electrolytic ones.
Here is a link to a site that has the maunal for this model. You have to scroll down the page:

Could someone explain the xover diagram to me. What caps are in the singal path. In other words which caps would be best to change out for better ones. This speaker has APOC in the circuit. I believe it is some kind of driver protection. It is refered to as a "relay" in the manual.
My hunch is that the 47mF and 100mF caps are part of the APOC circuit???
Also do you think it is a good idea to do this or should I stick with electrolytics?

Thank you for your help.

I agree with sreten, and only those three capacitors are in the 'actual' crossover. There is also R1, R3 and R4, L1, L2 and L3. R1 (the link) might be there for adding extra padding to the tweeter for personal preference?

Apart from C1 and C2, I wouldn't bother with anything else except maybe changing the woofer coils to air cored coils, watching the resistance of the coil is a reasonable match (this mod may be an improvement but the amount versus the cost makes it a poor upgrade). I would also consider changing the relay to ensure the contacts are clean or if you never play them loud you could jumper over it, at your own call.

Thank you Sreten and AllenB for your generous advice. The values for C1 is 6mF and C2 is 8mF, but Clariy cap SA has the values 6.2 and 8.2. Does the .2 in the value make any difference? Also if I decided to change the C3 5.3 mF CC only makes a 5.6 mF is the .3 difference an issue?

Thank you again for all your assistance.

Michael

Waste of time. Even if you can identify a difference it won't be reliably identifiable.

Changing the coils to air cores is probably not a bad idea though.
