crossover calculator

Hi. Is it possible to find a crossover calculator.

There are some online where you select the frequency and it gives you the inductor and capacitor values needed.
I am wanting one which works the other way around, in which you give the inductor and capacitor values that you want to use and the program gives the crossover frequency that will be achieved.
Thanks.

(Online) crossover calculator are almost useless, because they work on the assumption of flat frequency response and flat constant impedance. Real drivers with those characteristics doesn't exist, so what is calculated can be sometimes very far off from reality. Another discrepancy is the effect of the baffle on the FR of the drivers (baffle step and diffraction), so even if you can find a driver with flat FR, once mounted on a baffle, the FR will be different.
Download PCD (Passive Crossover Designer) or XSim, and have a look. Those programs can give you what you want.

Measuring the impedance curve is surprisingly easy and there is no excuse not to do it. All that is required is to download REW (Room EQ Wizard) and read about the impedance measurement setup - it amounts to nothing more than a few wires, connectors and a 1% resistor.

It’s easy, but in order to get reliable measurements you need a good sound card. I posted some time ago on another thread pictures of measurements with two different sound cards.
Anyway, impedance is only half of the problem, and can often be extracted from data sheet, whereas the FR has to be measured or if extracted from data sheet it needs to be modified in order to simulate the baffle effect.
