Crossover Advice

The design is the Troels Gravesen SBA10, I have not purchased it yet so obviously do not know values of xover components and will not be able to divulge them later either.
As I said at the start I want to build it in a slightly smaller cabinet and I will tune it lower also so 2nd peak will still be about the same from memory approx 46hz.

How are you gonna make the bass cabinet smaller? The width is just wide enough for the driver, the height puts the mid and tweeter at the right height and they are not very deep and not designed to be stuffed against the wall.

I'm glad you're making a kit for your build as I think you're much more likely to get good sound but I think you should just make it as planned. You seem to always make things more difficult than they need to be. 5 or 10 liters in a cabinet that size is barely noticeable.

I would ask Troels what he thinks.
good luck

Hi Everyone
Thanks for replies, reason for reducing the bass cabinet is that (WAF) dictates reducing depth, but she likes the look of top part with mid and tweeter.
If I go ahead and buy kit/design I will come back and try to sort out the LCR with you all.
Just one thing I dont understand is is the LCR targeted at one frequency or is it like 40Hz min 50 hz max as even if you measure the res. freq. the equipment is never 100 % accurate.
Also which dictates the lower freq. is it the cap or inductor.

Try not changing anything on the woofer LCR. After a q&d sim in Boxsim I don’t believe you’ll be able to hear the difference between a roughly matched network and a spot on one. Unless you are going to change fb more than 30 percent.

Small differences may not be a problem. This is just to show what happens when it gets to be too large a difference.
