hi!
I need caps for protecting my inegrated amplifier preout. Since this preout is used for feeding my active subwoofer I think the better cap for bass is teflon ones.
But that'as big value (about 2uf) and it's very pricey. On the bay I saw CRC 400V 3uF Metalized Teflon Oil Capacitor: is this good caps???

CRC has been out of business for many years - they were one of the top military capacitor suppliers in the USA. So my guess is the quality of the capacitor is good. As far as I know, CRC didn't manufacture and oil filled capacitors. I worked for CRC back the early 90's in their Tucson facility (formerly know as West-cap). We did all of the oil impregnation and I don't recall having Met. Teflon parts for them.
My question is why Teflon? The electrical characteristics of Teflon are very high, such as insulation resistance in the neighborhood of 1 x 10^7 megohms and dissipation factor of .0005 - while this is much higher than most any other film capacitor, is it necessary for your application?? Don't know how to answer that one.

What is the quality of the coupling caps used in the preamp and at the input of the active sub ?
Most of the time you will see an ordinary electrolytic cap at the input of active sub-woofers.
No point in using a high quality cap in series with that.
Also, if the quality used in the preamp is much less then the teflon, it will not be very beneficial.
There are very good Russian Teflon caps on Ebay, and they are not to expensive though.

I asked velodyne about that: they told me there's no input capacitor so the pre out capacitor is a question of interest

@Capman 57
I heard several caps and what I can say it's that for the bass the teflon sounded the best.
