Anyone have any info about CPC Japanese tubes? Apparently they were some sort of matching and selection company back in the 70's. Not sure if they made their own tubes or rebranded other manufacturers. Any info is appreciated!
Thanks

I think CPC just provided spare parts for the radio and TV trade. They would rebrand whatever valves were available at a reasonable price.
I think you may mean CVC, The Chelmer Valve Company. They specialized in higher grade valves and I still have a couple of ECC83 double triodes in stock. They are ideal for the front end as they are very quiet and an EZ81.
CPC, as DF96 correctly says, is a component and finished goods supplier that sometimes re-badges components.

CPC is now a brand of Farnell, but I don't know it's history. I have some valves in CPC boxes. I think some of them are Mullards.
CPC was known as Combined Precision Components, an electronic components distributor. Similar to the now defunct Willow Vale Electronics and HRS etc. Unlike RS Components that screen printed their name and part number on everything, they sold a good selection of valves for the TV trade in CPC boxes bur with proprietary components inside.
My impression is that CPC valves are more likely to be from good manufacturers than Willow Vale or HRS. Some Willow Vale valves look like seconds: functional but leaning at a drunken angle.

That's why Peter had a helicopter back in 1996 and we didn't!
