Coupling caps output cd player.

Hi Sagen,

I just took a look at the Pass B1 Buffer Preamp schematic ( PassDiy ) and as far as I can see there are an additional two capacitors (1uF & 10 uF) in the signal path of this device.

Hmmm ... I would like to tread carefully here - but have you ever considered one of Calvin's JFET buffers? No capacitors in the signal path and as I understand it considered to be very good sounding (I have not heard it/them myself though) ...

Preamp-Buffers - simple idea

If you want it to be level-adjustable, as the Pass Buffer is, then you can e.g. use one capacitor in series with the potmeter parts of the Pass Buffer (i.e. what is prior to R102 and R202) ...

BTW the Pass Buffer I have linked to is ~25k input impedance ...

Cheers,

Jesper

johnmath: Tanx!! gentlevoice: I will check it out, I know it was 25K but Nelson change it to 50K later. MichealBeam: Yes that is ****!! ( : And they also like it when we after they have used 1000 of hours making and testing products and we come, why didn’t you do that insted.

My post was sarcasm...no manufacturer will actually do that...the shareholders would start a war!
DAC filters actually serve a purpose. What you are doing is the equivalent of removing the transmission from a car and connecting the engine straight to the drive wheels...you can make it work, but not well or correctly.
The University of YouTube is not a great resource...get your info from legitimate sources...not Alchemists.

Is the equipment you are connecting to able to filter out frequencies that are well above the audio band? If not, those high frequencies are probably causing extra noise and distortion in your preamp or amp that fool you into believing you are hearing more detail...you're not, you are hearing added distortion. If you don't believe me, check the output with a scope.

Micheal Bean: That is true, you can know without checking with a scope. Me and my friends dont have that kind of equipment. But maby we can learn it and borrow one. Maby that be the next project. Do you scope output on CD, then pre, then filter, then amp? Or just right to amp output, the last before speakers?
