Hi all,
I have a CD Drive Counterpoint which is not working.
See picture 2 for overall view
Symptoms are:
-No life sign
-If I push power button I can hear the relay switch (clic)
-If I let the tray open, he's closing automatically which is mean that there is power.
-no light on
-nothing is displayed
starting of my troubleshooting:
-Power source is working
-The previous owner has already try to fix (or get fix) the CD drive. there is a bypass between the optical module PCB to the upper PCB which I definitely not understand.. (See picture 3)
-I didn't check if power is arriving to microchips (next step).
The aim of my post is firstly to share my troubleshooting and (I hope) the repair solution.
Then to ask all of you: Are anyone a good tip to found the counterpoint DA-11.5E SERVICE MANUAL ??
thank you very much in advance 🙂

Check the timing of the tray. If the tray does not stay open, it hasn't completed opening correctly.
It is only a Philips chip set in an expensive box.
There is no service information available. Send it back to the manufacturer for service if you cannot affect a repair.

I have Counterpoint stuff. Original company is loooooong gone.
Check with Michael Elliott and see if he as anything. I’m not sure what his current company name is but he still does (very) high end audio gear.

have you had any luck with the service manual?
I need one too ;-)
I have resurrected mine and it is working now but only one of the outputs is working and I am having trouble sourcing Burr-Brown BUF601.
Few points:
- Check the capacitors in the power supply for high ESR with a capacitance meter (about $30 on eBay). Several of them were leaky and also some on the main board. Do not replace them all on the main board, only the one brand that is leaky.
- Top and bottom boards mate with a series of pins and sockets (there is a forest of them). See of all the pins are straight and that they all go into their assigned placed. The best way is to do it with the mechanism removed, for then you can see it from both sides. One pin in mine was bent and made a player pretty much dead.
- Check if the display plug is sitting properly in its socket.
Counterpoint DA-11.5E repair progress
There is another one, earlier video there (use search) where you can see it in bits. You will know what I mean about a forest of connectors and how to inspect them.
