Hi,
I agree the LED must conduct for it to light. i.e LED negative to PSU+ve and LED positive to 0v
Did I say the opposite?
I thought the flat side of the LED was negative. Which is the standard marking?

Please Andrew, you are mixing things now.
Cathode is flat side, negative connection
You must connect + to the anode in order to get current through the LED:

I keep tweeking the layout and tried rearranging some of the components. I dont think I'm going to change much else now, if anything, so I'm posting what will probably be a final revision for the PCB layout. Some of the traces look very close but I've run the error checker and it says all is fine. Oh and the board should not be any bigger than 52mm by 37mm so it's pretty small 🙂

Hi,
two traces next to pins 4 & 5 look a bit close.
Pin 5 narrow the trace slightly.
Pin 4 maybe the same solution.

Hi,
I'll print these off on Saturday and pour over them until I am sure they are accurate.
Can your baby wait that long?
I wish I could do layout like that!
If that 12k ground end causes a problem, the solution is very easy so I can live with that. Let's not worry about it until you have the proto running and prove it's OK as is.
