hi i have the above amplifier for some time.
of recent i noticed the boost light no longer works .
and has a little humm when it is switched ,
clean channel seems ok .id be intrested as to possible causes.
or problems thankyou in advance guys 😉

hi and thanks ,yes the boost seems ok.
i couldnt say as responsive as it used to be.
i have had the amp many years now,but yes seems to work ok.
i did resolder the input female socket a few weeks ago as that was loose.
all seemed fine, well other than the boost light not coming on.
but it does ocasionally, just drop signal, and sound stops.
i have ruled out the jack plugs cables various guitars, and re soldered the input.
also their are 2 leds inside for when the boost is switched, these also seem fine.
so basically im stumped with the front rack light and the sound drop ocasionally.
it does seem to get the sound back if i pull the lead from the guitar an push back in with the amp on.so possibly somthing as in a bad ground possibly.
i have never worked as in building any of my own as of yet so well its a long learning curve for me ,i dont want to take it to the shop,it went and got bought that long ago. i do have schametics, but id rather not go deeper than needs be.
anyway thanks for the reply 😉

It sounds like a broken solder joint somewhere.
Most likely on something that is connected to the front panel.

Saftey first, unplug it while it's turned on to help drain some excess current, even then, watch out for the capacitors.

Take your solder iron and resolder these conections. A small break in the solder can be extremley difficult to see. I would do that first, as it costs nothing. Also check that you haven't dropped a glob of solder or a peice of wire on the circuit board somewhere.

If it still does not work I might take apart my G100R and have a little peek, maybe trouble shoot it.

thanks for the reply ,yes i shall have a look at that.
also i havent dropped no solder anywhere, the light went out quite a while ago.
and only of recent i have done a little work on it.
and well i must say it was a vast improvement just soldering the input jack.
but yes i will at some piont try and investigate more,as well it the fact i know somthing just aint quite right.and thanks for the advice 🙂
