The case will be the most expensive part, without that you could probably replicate the circuit for peanuts. Without a schematic or internal pics its anybodys guess as to what is inside it.

for that kind of outlay... I'd rather refurb. a dozen Agilent/ HP / Harrison Lab supplies. Sell half and keep the best with extra coin left over.Can we agree $1400 is on the steep side?

Sorry for not being more clear. I'm thinking the most the parts could possibly cost is about half, even paying $170 for local CNC to cut a chassis. Which is why I'm thinking of making my own, that's all.
