Coral ID and enclosure tips

Hi

Can anyone ID this one? Is it flat 6?
I want to build an enclosure for it, looking for recommendations.

Thanks!

Hei,

Yes, that looks like a Flat6, maybe an OEM type as per magnet designation. Nice driver if you have 2 of them, undamaged, working etc.
But to answer your question correctly, more info is needed.
By it´s time, enclosure calculation for these drivers were more try and error than anything else, and even this yesteryear´s suggestions might not be of much help if TSP have changed over the decades.
Coral has indeed suggested horn designs for their 6" drivers, but these were more mid-bass horns IIRC.
To solve this and to come up with a suggestion, you´ll need to make TSP and response measurements, all else is guesswork.
A DATS measurement will also show most defects of the drivers before you start to invest money.
But if all is OK and you do it right, you can make very nice speakers from these historic drivers.

All the best

Mattes

Assume it behaves like many general purpose accordion edge bookshelf
speakers.

Sounds the same in small 16 liter wood box or
large 50 liter box.

Best tradeoff for flat response
and less over excursion

is usual 18 to 25 liter box

flattest response is largest baffle possible.
Since a modern datsheet would just test it
on Huge IEC Baffle

Real life baffle is only as wide as
18 to 25 liter box physically allows.
