Converting manual screen to electric

Does anyone have experience with manual roller screens and how feasible it would be to remove the spring mechanism inside of it and mount a motor or servo to it?

Background Info:

I am on the search for a new screen. I had previously built my own screen out of Da-Mat White material, it was super simple and turned out awesome. But I have moved and now my screen wall has a window, so I can't permanently mount my screen anymore, I did have a 80x60.

I am now looking at a 116x65 (133 diag) manual pulldown screen.

I would like an electric but they are about 400-500 more, and this is for a wired version! How hard can wiring up a servo motor to the roller be?

You proabably wouldnt even need a servo motor.

Just a regular DC motor/gearbox and a limit switch of some kind with a controller.

IMO though... the engineering it would take to build your screen correctly would cost FAR more than the extra few hundred bucks for an electrically conrolled screen
