I've a dead Cambridge Audio CD2 that I believe has a fully functioning DAC section. I've owned several of these and all have died. When working these old player have some fine qualities....

My question is, how easy would it be to convert this old player to a stand-alone DAC? It cost me nothing, so as a novice DIYer, it could be a good project.

Anyone with experience of the same, or with some suggestions of how to proceed, would be really useful and much appreciated.

Kind regards,

Thanks,
Tweedle12.

Quite easy......

The dac chips etc. are all on one board.

Remove it, add a psu and you have a stand alone NOS DAC accepting I2S signals.

You could link it to one of the chinese dac kits for USB or SP/DIF inpts.
or you could, as suggested, repair the player

Or better still, send it to me as I'm after one!! (PM please)
