I saw an olympus conversion lens (TCON 14D http://www.olympus.co.uk/consumer/198_TCON-14D.htm ) it's on sale for 35 euros.
I was wondering if these type of lenses are usable for DIY projectors. Could they somehow increase/decrease the focal length of a normal triplet, say like the 330mm FL one?

I will be testing one out in a few weeks. The prolblem is finding one that will cover a 62mm lens. The one I found is for a beta cam. There was only one of them with shipping it will be $50 . The CANON C-8 TELE CONVERTER 1.4 X 67 might work but someone has to try it out and they are rare too. most are made for 52mm or smaler lens. good luck.
is it possible to use a conversion lens as the projection lens (given it has the right focal length and FOV) instead of putting infront of a current triplet lens?

The adaptor would have to be used on top of the tripelet just like a camcorder. On LL site Kit's PHOTON CANNON said he tested one and it worked.
My telephoto adapter came in today its big but the rear clear is only 58mm a little smaler than the 62mm clear of the triplet. It works good. I am going to set up a test rig for FOV testing.

Right now my test setup is just a 60 watt light bulb. I saw someone on ebay use one for finding the FL. the test rig will be done in a few days. The qualityof the teleconverter is great and the throw looks like about 1.8 X the rear FL of the triplet got longer by about 60mm but this lens is a one of a kind the only other one I could find with the same speks was made by canon and was $450. I think by looking at this one it probulaly cost that much it is about two pounds and looks real expencive there was only one on ebay. I was hopping to find a cheep fix that everyone could use.
There is one that is made for the canon XL and it is $109 new but I bet that the rear clear is even less than 58mm. someone would have to try it. It is a hard call when the pro lens from LL should be out in about 3 or 4 months and the 135mm from DIY PJ is $119 then there is the Opaque Projector that can be had for around $100 I bough one and have the lens it is almost 5" in dia but it won't focus sharp on larger than a 15" LCD

Just found out that my fresnel lenes are literally on a slow boat from china. I must have clicked the wrong button, so it will be a few weeks before I can poast any results
