Connecting a Yamaha Graphic EQ to Technics SA-AX720 Class H receiver

I recently bought a second hand TEchnics SA-AX720 receiver and was wondering if by any chance i can connect a Yamaha external graphic equalizer such as GE-70. I hereby attach a picture of the rear panel of the receiver for the proper assesment. I would not like to spend money on a graphic eq if the amp is not able to accept this eq.

Looking for precise advice.

You can hook it up to either the TAPE loop or VCR loop. REC OUT to the input of the EQ and PLAY IN to the output of the EQ. Both should work fine unless there is something "special" about the VCR loop.

If i connect it to the tape input will i be able to equalize the frequencies of the radio, cd and phono?? my set up does not include a tape deck. i will only be using a turntable connected at the phono input, and a cd player at the cd input.

It does not make sense since it will only equalize when the receiver is set on tape and not on phono or cd.

When you record something from any of the inputs, tuner, phono, or whatever it all goes out to the the REC OUT jacks then through the EQ and back into the receiver through the PLAY IN jacks. Hook it up the way I explained and push the tape button and play whatever source you want to. Try it, all inputs will be EQ'd.

This means i dont necessary have to have the selector switch on the tape mode to hear the signal eqd? I connect it this way and when i switch the selector switch to phono, it will also be eqd as desired?

It's a great theory, and how I would have wired it, too, but I've downloaded the operation manual, and the stupid b****s haven't put a tape monitor mode. What you're listening to, and what is sent out of the rec out jacks, is identical (except that tape listen can't be sent to rec out, logically enough). So, to hear the equaliser out you have to switch to "tape" on the selector, and then there's nothing being sent to it.

Bummer. I can't see how to add an insert without resorting to soldering iron.

So, Bottomline, Craig advice wont work. I shouldnt spend a single dime on buying an external equalizer for this amp.

Never dreamed there would be two tape loops that aren't loops. The only other way would be just to hook it up between the source, CD for example, and the CD input. Not very convenient but EQ'd, but no soldering iron either.
