Confused about the Lamp/condenser/first fresnel distances/setup? anyone help

I have been wondering how the distances work from the lamp and the condenser and the first fresnel lens?

I read on the forums that the first fresnel should be the focal length distance from the lamp arc but is this still true if your using a condenser?

if i setup my lamp with the condenser about 25mm from the lamp arc the light cone coming from the condencer lens would cover the first fresnel/LCD panel perfectly but this would not be the distance of the first fresnel focal length (i.e. 220mm), do i need to move the condenser close or further to that the light cone covers the first fresnel at the correct distance (i.e. the focal length of first fresnel).

i hope someone understands what im tryin to say, im not to great at explaing this lol

I would experiment myself but im still waiting for some parts so i can set it all up and try properly. I also wanna make sure its setup in the optimum way.

hope someone can help 😉

When I asked this question some weeks ago, it seemed that no-one had a solid answer, only that roughly 220mm from the condensor generally worked well, experimentation time i guess 😉

Personally, the above did indeed provide the best result, altho, my condensor was hard up against the bulbs outer glass so it was only 10mm from the arc or so(centre of the arc tube)

I think the closer the condenor is to the bulb, the more likely you will have to move back the 220mm fresnell (closer)
