Confirmating the bits

So I decided to take a chance and buy a second hand Audiobyte Hydra Z to
reclock the signal from my laptop into my DEQX. I wasn't really expecting
much, because bits are bits right?

I was using USB into the DEQX but I got an Audioquest AES/EBU cable and
I'm using that from the Hydra into the the DEQX. I can hardly believe how much
better it sounds...more detail, better transients, more natural sounding,

less digital.. every thing better! Logically I cant explain it because bits are bits and

I've been told that jitter is inaudible. But I can clearly hear an improvement.

The only other possible explanation I can think of is that using the Xmos
interface for the USB into the DEQX I was limited to sending in 196khz @ 24 bits.

The Hydra will do 32 bit @ 384 khz. But it all gets resampled in the DEQX to 96khz
24 bit anyways so I'm left thinking that reclocking really does have merit.

Anyways, just another anecdote. Sincerely,

Eli
