Condense image

I have a problem. I got a very very very nice projection optics 🙂 but the optics can only accept an image source of 3.2" or smaller 😡 . Since small panels are so expensive I decided to buy a small tv and use that LCD but the resolution are really low
🙁 so the tvs produced bad images. Would there be any way to condense a large image source into a small image source? Like use a 10.5" LCD and a condenser lense to make the image 2 inches big. Or maybe is there just a cheap place where I can get small panels?

Thanks,
Aaron

My experience was that fresnels do a wonderful job in "condensing" the image. The big idea is to "compress" a big image into a smaller projection lense. I use one cheap plastic thin fresnel to focus the light from the bulb to the lcd, and then another one from an overhead pj to compress the beam, coming out of the lcd to the pj lense.

(drawing removed because it... kinda sucked)
