Hello all, I have designed a class D amp based around the HIP4080A IC and I am a bit unsure about powering it. I want the DC voltage bus for the full bridge to be only 10V and ideally I want to power the IC from the same rail. I'm using IRF640 mosfets which fully turn on with a gate voltage of 10V so I presume this is alright? I'm having a job trying to confirm this from the datasheet/ app notes so could someone reassure me that this will work okay and nothing will break. The app notes state that it has the ability to operate from 10V DC busses for driving H-bridges but should the DC bus voltage be greater then the VCC for the chip?
cheers

I really don't have experience with your problem but I would of thought some headroom would be a good idea.
Why not to try a notebook supply, around 12V?. If you strictly need 10V, add 3 diodes in series (2.1V loss).
... should the DC bus voltage be greater then the VCC for the chip?
No, it must be able to operate down to 0 V power rail.
