Compatibility problems with Firefox?

Cute Javascript error!

I have to disable Javascript in order to post,
else, I get an error message:
"before you post, please search the forum".

Well, I did a search, but I could find no link
back to my composition.

Worse still,
I have to initially have Javascript enabled, to log in,
then turn it off, in order to post. This is very annoying.

Please advise. I am currently using Firefox 2.0.0.20
under Windows 2000 SP4.

I will probably try different browsers under different
OS's, and on different machines; but, only for
troubleshooting purposes.

I have been inactive for a year or so, so perhaps
I have a bad/stale cookie? I dunno.

It's just frustrating, irritating, and annoying.
Yes, I did click the "Have you Searched?" checkbox.

I'm baffled.

Hi Leslie Horn,
I'm running Firefox 3.0.5 under XP. No troubles at all. When starting a thread, there is a box you need to check to indicate you have searched first, but only when starting a thread.

Could it be buggy Win 2K. Might be, Windows "features" never surprise me these days.

It is a common human error to miss checking the "i searched" checkbox -- took me a bit to figure it out when i started my 1st thread. Interesting to note that it can be bypassed by turning off javascript.

Maybe it's Windows 2000. It's a "goofy" OS. I run the latest Firefox and have no problems.

Hi Mike,
Plain old XP Home is the way to go. XP Pro is fine, bit the extra features are more than what most people will use. I can say from experience that Vista should be avoided. 2 GB just to run "okay", and it doesn't play nice on networks at all. For that you need to top version. Forget it u$oft!

There's no problems with Win 2K here on DIYaudio what so ever.
I've run it since it came out, and i have no intentions to change, least of all to Vista

No problems here with FF2.0.0.20 on a W2K machine.

However FF3 will not run at all on this machine and is not stable (crashes randomly) on another XP machine.

And why should W2K be goofy in particular Mikje? Isn’t that not true for all M$-stuff?

It may have been a temporary server problem.

Well, XP is the most stable thing u$oft has put out recently, despite their best efforts!

W 2K was a nightmare as a voicemail server, XP is much, much better and Vista won't work. I thinks it's safe to say that Vista is pretty much dead in the water now. These people should get a free upgrade to XP, or a stable new W7 - if they can reduce the darn kernel size! What a memory pig Vista is! Holy -wow! The new windows really must reduce the amount of memory it requires to run, and to plug those memory leaks. A common problem with Wind blows.

I had a hard drive crash last night, due to a power outage
(I left the computer running as I slept through it).

CHKDSK revealed pages of lost clusters.

Problem fixed!
It scared me, though.
Oh well, it was only a technical difficulty.

No offense intended to Win2K fans Pjotr. I was only speaking from my obviously limited experience. If others have had good experiences with Win2K, my apologies.

In the Leslie cabinet, there is a pair of horns,
revolving on a spindle, coupled through slip rings.

There is a two-speed motor. "Chorale" speed is 45 RPM,
while "tremolo" speed is 430 RPM. This produces a true
mechanical "doppler effect", which, in my opinion, cannot
be matched electronically. The doppler effect combines
tremolo with vibrato.
Nothing else sounds sweeter (possibly other than a revving
car engine).

On a good HIFI, I can reproduce both.

Oh, and no offense to Win2K
I use it, too. Yeah, I also use XP, CentOS, Valhalla,
Win98, and even (-=gasp!=-) MS-DOS 6.22.

But my preferred OS, for casual use, is Win2K.
Yes, it's obsolete. Get over it, guys and gals.
