My case is that, my Marantz 1515 is dying on me and I have been thinking something new. I have 2 pairs of different speakers (8 ohm) and an active subwoofer (Audio Pro Sub Level 110).
The system I'm thinking would consist two stereo Tripath amps.
Possible amp boards are:
1) Some generic and cheap TA2024 with some modding
2) Hifimediy T1-M TK2050 9 - 24V
3) Hifimediy T1X4, TK2050 4 channel STA508
Considering my old Marantz is 2x15W and it's loud enough, power is not the first priority.
The first option would probably be the cheapest, but is there much difference between the second and third? The price would be pretty much the same after buying two T1-M or one T1x4.
If I understand correctly, in above amps, one should newer connect grounds of two channel together. In my subwoofer I have input and output terminals for speaker level signal. I measured resistance between input ground terminals and it was 2k. Would this be considered as connecting grounds and lead to amp failure?
The main question is which option would you choose as a base of a 4 chan amp considering price and sound quality? I’m also open to other suggestions.
