Hi,
I'm planing to finish my DAC once and for all, so I need a potentiometer...
Just got a pair of Colvern LTD Wirewound potentiometers (google doesn't help too much) so my question is, how much are they worth and how do they compare to something like blue Alps???
Considering they are wirewound is it smart putting them on the line level, or should I rather go for stepped attenuator??

And of course pics:

Hi,
where did you get potentiometer?
I have much better sonic results with wirewound potentiometers than Blue Alps.
Might be better than stepped attenuator.

Thank you for your reply.

A friend of mine dug up "something" from his basement, not sure what it is, only thing that says on it was Ferrograph. From the looks of it, it's was some kind of function generator???
Disassembled it for the parts...

Luckily I haven't finished my DAC yet, so I'll give it a try with that potentiometer for starters.. I got a Blue Alps too (didn't like it on my headamp), so I'll have something to compare...

Most Colvern pots were linear, not logarithmic so check before you use them as a level control. They are good pots except from a vibration stand point, I once carried a very heavy Gaumont Kallee Fluttermeter up four flights of stairs only to find it didn`t work. Back at base I discovered the Covern HT pot had fallen apart after one too many car journeys.

Thanks for the info, I forgot to check, unfortunately it's linear 🙁(
I think I'll keep the signal path clear, no pots - straight to the amp input...

Considering it's a USB DAC, I'll be able to control the volume on the PC anyway...
