Collaro 2010 AC_53 Motor Unit Running Hot.

Mornin' everyone

Anyone have a service manual for this unit please...or advice?
Yes I have given it a good clean, oil and lube but after about an hour it is way too hot to touch.

Looks like a shaded pole motor; these do run hot as there are 1 or 2 copper rings around the stator which act as shorted turns and will naturally get warm and transfer heat to the rest of the motor. As long as the motor doesn't 'sizzle' when touched with a wet finger (after turning off the power) you should be OK.

"Looks like a shaded pole motor"
I had no clue what that is....thanks for the education.
So I have no concerns about the heat ....cheers mate.

Yesterday I found an AC.53 Motor Manual here
https://www.vintage-radio.net/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=29404&d=1255736501
And following on from this...
Dismantle the motor by removing the two screws under the motor, remove the pulley and tap out the rotor. Lubricate using sewing machine oil.
I'm sure the motor is running slightly cooler but it does remain hot as you described it.
By the way that rotor was caked by a layer of grease and dust...a good soak in liquid soap and use of scouring pad did a good job on it.

And a thank you to

Here's the Collaro 2010 Turntable Users Manual
And the AC.53 Motor Unit Mechanism...if the above doesn't work.

Scouring the 'net I noticed the Collaro 2010 Turntable AC.53 Motor Mechanism is the same unit used in the Collaro Conquest RC.54 Valve Record Player.
But see how they fitted a fan...right there on the pulley of the Conquest RC.54.....So no problems with heat build-up on the motor.
Wonder why they to omit it on the 2010 motor mechanism!!!

Well one obvious observation is that the wiring is in a dangerous state, frayed and almost bare in one place...

The black cube at the end of the wires - is that a switch or a run-capacitor?
