Cal - what's the price for these ?
Can't tell you, I got mine when they were clearing them from PE.
I presume you having them home , at least looking at that junk in back .....
Ya, they are just scattered on the pile with the rest of that crap.
Can't do that. I don't have any friends. At least none who will hang out long enough to do a side by side listening test with me.in any case - generally - it will be helpful to say for any of mentioned drivers how they compare to any known driver/speaker combo .....
Looks interesting
Those look interesting but all of the coaxes I've looked at seem to have such a ragged tweeter response. Do you know what driver Emerald is using?there is also the new audionirvana 15 coax, not cheap but inline with what emerald is using i guess... worth a look?
Dunno Dan, those drivers look a little far apart to be coax's
Look closer Cal. It's a three-way! Quite a dirty little trick they've pulled. The WG is a mid/tweeter assembly. It's one very cool speaker. Look at the FR--smoothese coax I've seen.

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.
Dan
This wins the cool award.
I remember seeing those in the PE and Madisound catalog a year ago...PE only has the 5" 2-way listed, and Madisound shows out of stock on the 3-way

Even when free beer is involved?
I hope to do some testing of my BM15CX38 next w/e as I have a pair, and an option on another pair for the sides/rear in the HT (with a 15" bass driver under each)..... P.Audio also make coax for the pro market. Pretty good drivers.
I wonder if that FR is post DSP.Look at the FR--smoothese coax I've seen.
Since no one answered this,
The Emerald uses the Eminence Beta 12 with a Selenium compression driver (sorry, didn't note down exactly which one).
The CS2.3 adds two 15" Betas to handle bass duty, whereas the 12" handles all the bass in the CS3.
I had a look at the EQ curves on a computer - it's pretty complex - apart from OB bass equalisation, there are a couple of squiggles in the lower midrange (I presume dipole peak correction), and the CS2.3 has an additional boost somewhere in the treble. There is some claim of the CS3 being cut off sharply at 32Hz to protect the driver from over-excursion. I don't remember seeing this on the EQ though, maybe it's in the crossover inside the speaker.

The Hivi Trinity6 had pretty bad measurements in the German magazine HobbyHifi. Can't remember exactly, but the frequency responses of the drivers don't overlap, thus you would have deep gaps in the overall FR.
Something like midrange works til 2k, but tweeters lowest usable frequency is 4k.

That's a shame Will have to wait for the Mk.2 improved version!

Well I'll be.
Even when free beer is involved?
Alas, when the beer wears off so do the friends.
Cheers.
I use Hawthorne Audio's Hawthorne Audio - Home Page
Only for OB designs though.....great value / sound ratio

Beta 10CX is documented here:

Yes, we used them.
Yes, they're famous.
No, I wouldn't....

Build with them for home audio....Wouldn't what?
Thought that's what you meant.Build with them for home audio....
