CNC speaker cabs

Hi,

My name is Jess, and I run a CNC machining workshop in Lewes, South-East England: cuttingedgecnc.co.uk

I have recently completed a set of plans and cutting files for the Frugel MK3, with tapered components for a slick finish and quick assembly.

I am a hifi fan, but never dipped my toe into speaker manufacture before, but we do manufacture cabinetry, furniture and architectural fitting to a commercial standard.

I have really enjoyed adapting the Frugel plans for CNC, and so I thought I would offer my services for anyone who wants to adapt their designs for CNC manufacture, either to prototype or produce a batch.

We have a 130 ton veneer press so we can combine some exotic hardwood veneers onto birch ply. We also use a MDF powder coating company, so supplying commercial quality solid colour cabs is another option.

I'm a mechanical engineer, but I know very little about speaker design, I plan to geek up on the subject and begin to put some designs together myself.

Hi Dave,

Please let me have your email address and I can contact you directly. But, please be assured I'm not selling Frugel-Horn Mk3's (sorry for my previous abreviation), the offer is for speaker designers to have their designs prototyped or batch produced to a commercial standard. As a designer of many products I don't want to infringe upon anyone's IP or profit from others hard work unfairly. You have raised an important point, and I will aim to qualify anyone interested in having their designs produced that they own the IP, have permission or license to do so.

Dave,

There seem to be crossed wires.

I have been tasked with optimising the frugel-horn mk3 design for CNC production for James & Jason at Custom Cans, who according to your site have complied with your use of design conditions.

I am not, or have not suggested that I'm manufacturing these speakers to sell. I respect IP as an engineer and business owner and also value the relationship I have with my clients.

Just to reiterate, I am not offering Frugel-Horns for sale, just the service of designing or developing designs for CNC manufacture.

Just wanted to say thanks to Chris B, for a very helpful email detailing some of the part adaptions and processes he has been through in creating over 100 pairs of FH's. He has been producing top notch kits. Dave is also keen for Custom Cans to supply Frugel Horns again, and I'll do my best to make sure the kits we produce for them do justice to the much respected design.
