hi

I have some b*se cube copies, and whilst they are pretty good at the dyalogue and for home theatre end, they are sorely lacking when it comes to music dynamics & more importantly clarity. So what I'd like to do is build by own speakers. But I dont know a tweater from a nipple, I just know that I like warm rich vibrant sounds, nothing to harsh. When a guitar is plucked I want to be able to hear the strings vibrate. So where do I start? I've been hunting round the web and am confused. I'd like the cabinet to be as small as possble, max size about 10"x6" (otherwise my Fiance will do her nut) so where do I start? I'm good with my hands, so building the cabinet should n't be a problem I have one other requirement - like a lot of people I am Broke - so the less money the better. I'm going to ebay my bose copies so raise some cash

all advice is really apreciated

cheers
David

A) You mentioned home theater. Do you want just 2 speakers or more?

B) If you want just 2 speakers, so you plan on using them with a subwoofer? Or do you want 2 speakers to handle the entire frequency range?

C) You mentioned 10" X 6" for the size. This is a three dimensional object-what depth do you want the speaker? Are you talking 10" X 6" X 6"?

ok, so here's the story. I bought my speakers 5.1 to double for movie and music - I spend more time watching movies, but appreciate more music. I need the smallest boxes possible, so I got the b*se copies - great for moves awful for music - they seem to miss a whole range of frequencies and sound 'flat'. So what I now want to do is build(if possible and cheap enough) a new front set, so thats the stereo + center. If this goes well then I build matching surrounds.

My requirements for the speaker cabs are as small as possible, but v.narrow floor standers would be acceptable...

I am open to any suggestions at all.

thanks
Dave
