Naptha
Anybody heard of/had experience with cleaning new records with naptha (eg Zippo lighter fuel) to remove MRA prior to IPA/H2O/Surfactant cleaning?
Very good results, with no adverse effects, were reported by Eric Stubbs in Audio Conversions magazine long ago.
Brian.

Have a look here:

Destilled water may be obtainable at pharmacies?
Atleast at any biologi/chemitry lab. (made from tapwater)
Most labs within these fields have triton X (detergent). Be polite and ask... 😉 (You can get far with just a smile)

Is DI water of any use? (De-Ionized) I have a tap here in the factory, it is all we use.
It is DI, de mineralized, ph ballanced, etc. It is used in all the coating mixtures to stabilize the reactions of the formulas to a 'standard' that is across the board.

Hi,
Yes...That's what you'd receive from the pharmacy anyway.
Cheers,😉

Re: Record cleaning fluid..
Bad choice of words (from me). It should be De-Ionized water. Sorry

If you use detergents it should be syntetic. These remain in solution while soaps (domestics detergents, wetting agents) percipitate (the ring around the tub) in hard water (water containig calcium, iron and magnesium). Detergents are needed to remove "oily" dirt (fingermarks).
Hi,
Please don't...The isopropanol will take care of the grease all by itself.
Cheers,😉

Re: Someting to make you laugh (perhaps)...
This sounds promising. How much vodka do you have to drink to get the sound right?

One night an intoxicated friend "why not give it some fluid suspension", whereupon he proceeded to pour vodka on the record in motion. Suddenly it sounded "perfect" (it probably wasn't, but 1000 times better).
So from then on, we would dose the record during play.
