Cleaning airgaps...different solutions?

How do I clean a speaker magnets air gap?
Anyone involved in reconing speakers must have encountered this problem. Small particles of dust and even worse, metal, stick on the inside of the air gap.
Compressed air doesn’t blow them away as good as I would like to.
Are there other ways to do this?

Rubbish in gap is very common when repairing speakers. This is what I use - get a strip of plastic around 3/8" wide (such as spacers used for recentreing voice coils). Loop a piece of household clear sticky tape lengthwise around the plastic, sticky side OUT, and hold it firmly on one end. Insert into the gap and run it round. Discard tape and repeat until tape comes out clean.

Easier to do than describe !

Don't recommend comressed air, as this usually contains water vapour.

Thanks Centauri, worked perfectly well.
The airgap diameter however was so small that I only used the
the tape.
I managed to get rid of all the dirt®. 😀
Amazing what came out!!

Congratulations!!!!!!!!! You just cleaned out your first gap! Next time, remember to put tape over the gap while you are stripping and scraping so the stuff doesn't get in there in the first place.

I actually did that as a first precaution but it turned out there was a lot of old metal parts sticking on the inside.
No idea how it came there.
