I pulled what looked like a polarizer filter more than 1 week ago.
Left residue on the back of the raw lcd. I figured I would clean it later. BIG MISTAKE! I now have what look like stains on the left and right side of my lcd screen. It looks lighter than the rest of the screen. So I just turned my 1024x into a 800x res lcd.
I am lucky the stains were not in the middle or bigger.
I now have to resize the window of every player, tuner software and position it to use my lcd. So, CLEAN YOUR LCD RIGHT AFTER YOU REMOVE YOUR FILTERS.

You mean optic cleaning liquid?
Tried optic lens cleaner first with lens cloth didnt even remove the crap that was on there so I went for alcohol which was working but not the lighter 1/4 inch lines. These lines are lighter than the rest of the screen. It looks like it actually removed a layer of something. So it doesnt really look like a stain now that I think about it again. But I will try again with something else.

dracul what polariser did u take off? the original or the one u stuck on there? if u took the one u stuck off of there it can be fixed but u will have to remove the one on the back that is the original, it will depend on how the lcd is made as to weather u can chemically remove it or by peeling it off, im sure acetone would destroy the original polariser but if its just glass and no electrical traces behind the original polariser then acetone would be the best bet to get the original polariser off, u can always get a thin peice of glass after and stick a new polariser to that and have that separate to the lcd but behind it close, my infocus is like this where it has only the front polariser stuck to the lcd while the rear polariser separated with the polariser stuck on a thin sheet of glass with a aligning mechanisim to align the polarity to the lcd, they do this cos then the polariser on the rear of the lcd being on the separated glass can take the heat in the glass rather then the actual lcd its self.

It wasnt stains. After I finally removed all the layers I discovered that the lcd was cracked in those spots.

darn what a waste, u must have used too much presure either that or the polariser stuck that good it cracked the glass when taking it off.

possibly this will save more people for befalling the same fate... lcd being glued so solid like this is possible rare... a good way to do it is to heat it to 55 degrees (60 maximum, hairdryer) and to try like that.
in the industry there is probably a typoe of solvent used for this, it is best to obtain the LCD plate's model number and manual from here with luck
http://homepages.nildram.co.uk/~displaze/
and to know what solvents are used in the industy, in case there is a non glare coating that goes white or something.
