I have a fairly heavily modded philips CD960 (ugly version of a marantz cd94!).
I've been working on the clock area to the decoder (SAA7210) filter (SAA7220) and DAC (TDA1541).
There has been some discussion on the CD650 thread regarding the clock.
The upshot is that I now wish to distribute my Trichord master clock to 4 places.
TDA1541a pin 4
SAA7220 pin 9 (original location of master clock)
SAA7210 pin 19
/2 circuit that feeds TDA1541a pin 2
My aim is to do this as effectively as possible.
My theory is that each connection would degrade the master clock by introducing its own noise.
It is currently configured to fan out from a single location (clock output) along seperate mini coax's.
I wonder if a better way to deal with this is to use a buffer circuit?
My aim would effectivly to supply 3 x master clock and 1 x (/2) bitclock.
One final point i've made the assumption that I can't use multiple clocks as they will all need to be in sync!

Beyond that, I'm not entirely sure what is best. I don't think its important to have anything other than a really clean, low jitter clock for the DAC. So, IMO the main aim is to preserve that as best as possible, which may suggest isolating from the other clocks.
Thinking about it, maybe you've achieved close to optimum with a buffer for MCLK/2 to the DAC?
Maybe a buffer to the other three would aid isolation?
I know this will be a hotly debated topic 🙂
