There are no stupid questions. Remember, it’s a journey and a ride. Come on in…the water is warm!

Best,

The Ncore NC400, UCD400HG Hxr, UCD180LP, Pass F5 (SMPS), the Krell KSA-50 Clone, the Quicksilver 8417 clones, Icepower 500ASP monos, ESP P101, Tripath TA-0103 based, and Innersound ESL amp.

All fantastic sounding amps. As far as the ones I listen to MOST on my Quad ESL-988?

Class d is most accurate at lower power as the carrier frequency duty cycle is 50%.
A good D amp should beat a class A amp.
The problem is hash noise interference on low level analog signals and FM signals. This noise can lower the S/N to 60 dB.
🙏🙏👍
I build IcePower 500w mono-blocks to see what the Class-D fuss was about.
It's not so bad, in fact, it's a bit of alright.
Been using them with the H2 preamp in front.
I like having the Class-D monos in my toolbox.
👌👍

Nc400 was on my radar for class D.... yes....
Thank you for your kind input....

I finished a M2 two years ago (following ZM advice) and very happy with it. I borrowed and tryed it with several speakers: Sonus Faber, big Tannoys, Unison Research, Fostexes, Markaudios. Always sounded nice (many friends surprised) with enough power.

Last time we tested it vs a Roksan integrated, speakers were SF Guarneri Homage at very high sound level. Owner preferred the M2.

Looks like M2 always sounds right 🙂

Class D has come a long way. Very acceptable sound for the masses. Still Class A is king when it comes to sound. That is a good Class A amplifier whether tube or SS. This is from someone who has many class D and many class A and A/B to compare them with. With my ears that is.

It is pretty obvious looking at the price of Nelson Pass amplifiers that they are intended for those seeking the best sound not average decent sound. One of his amplifiers are a long term investment as well and not a throw away amplifier after a few years. They hold their value for a reason. Figure it out for yourself why.
