I've taken action on building a backpack sound system. I already have most of my materials:
- 18Ah 12V SLA Battery (+ Charger)
- Multimeter (to monitor battery charge)
- Lepai 20W Class-D amplifier
- Sony SS-MSP1 Satellite Speaker
- Kicker 10C12D4 Subwoofer
My backpack is a tech bag so it has enough space to house all the components, and weight isn't an issue for me. The only problem i'm having is getting the battery to provide power to the amplifier. I've seen YouTube videos of people getting a Lepai amplifier hooked up to the SLA battery using a spliced AC cable, but I don't know how to safely do this without shorting the battery or blowing something up.
Any help is appreciated!

I made an ammo can speaker with an SLA and a Lepai amp and it's a simple hook up. What I did was I took a cable from another power supply that fit the Lepai, and put put some connectors like this one that are crimp on, yet have a shield that protects the terminal:
Fully Insulated Female Disconnect Terminal | 16-14 AWG 3/16" Tab | ElecDirect
You can get them at any automotive parts store. Seems to work well so far. If you really want to play it safe, use those terminals, then wrap that area of the battery in electrical tape (not sure if you're going to have a recharge port wired in or not).
Hope this helps.
