LOW ESR vs regular electrolytics. Not the main bulk storage in the PSU side but rather the smaller ones on the amp board next to the power fets.
From a HF design standpoint low esr caps rated for smps output duty should be used, but sound quality might object.

It's pretty easy to calculate the amount of ripple current that rail capacitors in a class D amp are subjected to - it's a lot. Use low ESR parts, it'll save you blown capacitors and a lot of grief.
A class D amplifier *is* a switching power supply, just with a modulated output voltage. All the good design practices associated with SMPS design are applicable to class D amplifier design.
As for "what sounds better", that depends on so many things to predict with any degree of confidence.
