is it possible, to rectify the mains voltage, to give a single ~340volt DC rail, and use this to run a class D amplifier?
it seems like it would be a very easy way to get high power, in a small amplifier package.
any major problems with this idea?

What about safety, dont you require isolation from mains?????

Yes, it's highly unsafe, and as such we do not allow the discussion on direct mains connected amps on diyAudio, so I'm closing this thread.
