Here's a pretty good class D amp I made as a commission, inspired by the artwork of YES, one of his favourite artists.
Components are tripath modules, black gate caps, plitron tranny, carbon resistors and silver wiring on heavy custom board.
The magic eye is poured polymer lit from behind by stereo LED VU meters. I did introduce a slight noise by the additional power supply to it but it's barely audible at 1m from the speakers and not at all from the listening position.
