Hello all I was wondering if anyone has built one of these Class A Amp Kits from Altronics ???
http://www.altronics.com.au/cat.asp?cat=11&grp=427&id=K5109
If so what does it sound like and how does it compare to say the JLH Class A Design?
Any info greatly appreciated

At the price (£17.50) looks extremely good value, the additional
regulated +/-V regulator board is even better value (£10.50),
and I recommend you use one per amplifier board.
I have no experience of the amplifier but it seems excellent value.

Hi Sreten thanks for your reply, the price of the kit is very good I thought compaired to making other class A amps I am going to purchase one kit and the power supply kit for it also and see how it sounds.

Hmmm.........
Well heatsinking, the case and power supply transformer
and capacitors is going to be a major part of the cost.
I recommend you build a stereo amplifier and share parts.
Heatsinking is very important for class A so make sure this is right.

Beeing class A, difficult to be bad
Designer must make all the efforces he can, to destroy the quality of one class A amplifier..... normally misadjusted extremelly, you can have at least 1 clean watt.....normally astounding watt!

Such perfect sentiment, DX.
Dick Olsher ( www.blackdahlia.com ) said "The first watt
is the most important watt".
Someone on this forum did equally well: "Who cares what an
amp sounds like at 300 watts when it's sh*t at 1 watt?"
This of course was the inspiration in the naming of my new
kitchen-table enterprise. 😎

Thank you, people told me you are going to develop...
Simple and small amplifiers, is that true?
I am interested..... i was reading Pass A40, but think it is complicated, better to wait your news.

Carlos

First W*tt F1 is 10 watts into 8 ohms. No feedback.
Perfect into Lowthers and Fostex. Only 100 will be
available. Not coming soon to a store near you. 😎

The SC 1998 Class A 15W amp is a competent amplifier.
It sounds pretty good, but nothing wonderful, not to be compared to the JLH, for example.
However, it measures extremely well............
