"the lighter the better " --this brings back memories of the "Age of the Plug-In Headshell " and one answer was magnesium, I am sure somebody produced one but don't remember the details .
Shucks ! Jelco made them but the old engineers and outdated equipment -health issues and maintenance issues caused a cessation of business.

Thanks for the replies. I did an image search for "azimuth headshell" and it seems there are quite a few to choose from. The weight issue is because it sits at the end of a 650mm long tonearm. The lightest so far is a vintage Stax HS-7. That "Stanton-shell" looks ultra light. Is it stiff/solid enough?

Since it is adjustable in VTA it is less stiff than a one-piece headshell I suppose. But it was necessary for that particular turntable.
