Circuit Sim Software - MAC OSX

Hi all,

I'm literally brand new to the forum but think I've found myself a new home! \
I'll be starting a degree (Bsc Audio Engineering) in September and want to learn a lot beforehand so I've got a step up.

I was just wondering what software you guys would suggest for simple circuit design, most likely heavily based around Op Amps etc...

Thanks guys!

Adam

LTspice Linear Technology - Design Simulation and Device Models is free, unlimited nodes, actively supported since it is used internally by LT for circuit dev
used to have to run under Wine - now they have a OSX version but I just use windoz

LTspice is an engineer's tool - not a easy learning tool, with cute meters - you really want a book or tutorial for Spice - can be most anybody's since they all have the actual Spice functionality the same

there are LTspice tutorials, a book too, hints/cheatsheets for the UI oddities - the Yahoo group https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/LTspice/info is for LTspice specific queries not for learning basics of Spice from a cold start - - but again Spice itself is pretty standardized so other EDA Spice forums would still be helpful

I recently attended an LTSpice seminar presented by Mike Englehart (the LTSpice author and developer) himself. Some of his comments made me think he prefers the UI he can create for the Mac rather than Windows, but I don't think the underlying algorithms are any different, nor any less efficient on the Mac compared to Windows.

Cheers JCX. I've downloaded LTSpice and getting to grips with it, been through loads of tutorials for it and I'm getting the hang. Also downloaded "The Configurator" and their programme for calculating noise within the circuit, seems like a useful tool!
