After some search I think that I will leave this EQ as it is. I found out that I can get used 32band EQ for 70EUR. If the case is that more bands is better...
Yes, this is the conclusion I came to after working out the price of parts, it's the quantity that's the issue. In the end I bought a 1/3 octave Rane graphic. You can pick them up quite cheaply since everyone is now using DSP
