About to build a kit el84 amp with a central circuit board. Regarding input/output wiring, since HV is kept within the board mostly, do I need to be concerned at all with what wiring I use with respect to voltage? I was planning on basic 22awg stranded copper or solid core in teflon or polyethylene insulation, maybe with 16awg to binding posts. Good to go?
The gauge does not matter. Don't use thin plastic insulation. Mostly this is tested to 300V, but will stand more, but the 600V test costs more, so we use "300V". Thousands of EL84 guitar amps were wired with unrated wire or 300V wire and work fine. The highest stress is on the plate to output transformer leads, and the stuff the transformer maker used should be fine.
