Thats interesting. Any chance you could get a picture of the model that they used?

If you look down the page at the images you will get a feel for what the pictures are saying..
Try drawing your model with the circles and try different colours I think you will be surprised..even at the position of the colours and rotation of the model.
Then ask why do I like red at the top or green at the bottom or does it look better with colour with different rotation. Then try all one colour and different colours.
If you do it on the PC you can place them side by side and feel the difference.
