Look at the back of your cartridge - do all four pins float, or is one grounded with that little metal strap?
Also, do the headshell screws electrically ground the cartridge? Or is there no electrical connection between the cartridge & the headshell? (obviously not a concern w/plastic or wood headshells)
This is how the cartridge body/shield finds ground. You MUST have one and only one of these ground paths. If you have both that is a ground loop.

That's OK for now but if you have hum issues this needs to be looked at deeper.
I suspect the gold part of the cartridge is metal & I suspect the tapped mounting holes are drilled into that metal. In other words I suspect this cartridge is designed to ground through the screws.
If it's currently unmounted, try measuring Ohms from one screw hole to the other. That will tell you if it's conductive.
I forget what your arm is but I assume it has 4 wires in it?

Grace 707, yes 4 wires at the headshell, 5 wires at the DIN connector pressumably connected to the tonearm tube et all.
Update: Finished the wiring, tested on the scope, check. Installed the OC9XML. Sounds great and very quiet. May even be quieter than the MM setup I had earlier. Floated the ground on the inputs. Tonearm ground connected to SUT chassis ground.
