Well did a small, well few hours worth of work on bits for them today lol
Electronics and powerrrrr!
Back removable panel
Why build a slot port if your not going to make it glow?
Me being pedantic
Both running off a Plug pack (3v 1a) 24ohm resistors on all the earth legs of the LED's all 6 running in parallel.
Laying cable
I was bummed I couldn't get some clear heat shrink over the bit where it slits out I had soldered the connectors on already, and the back of the connector wouldn't have slid over the wires with the heat shrink, I know what I could have done, But its just power wires so no real fuss. Still looks sweet, and that clear heat shrink is the bomb, I can see it being used more when I build the amp.
Quick pic of how the rear panel will look, Not a massive fan of the black paint in the end, I might sand it off and wrap it in 3m Vinyl wrap and leave the cut out painted.
They are all ready to have the sides sealed up now, which I shall do tomorrow.

Well they got some more work today, The 2nd one is just about ready to glue closed.
I went to find some Quartz sand for them today and well, Stuff it, clean beach sand for free it was haha, We have awesome beaches here!
So the 1st box that was glued up fully last week had the sand put in it and top half of the back sealed, like this
Threw the driver in to glue the front face on, but I need to hit it with a belt sander first, so that got held off.
But I do have it running right now, With a heap less dampening material in it, And wow it sounds so much better than last time, And it is fair damn loud with a sub running as a fast setup.
These puppies are going to be awesome.
Also started buying stuff to build the amps today

Also started buying stuff to build the amps today
They are sitting in the garage with the front face now glued on, Just need to trim it down, Cut out the hole for the port, give it some filling and sanding and they are ready to veneer.
I have also started collecting parts to build the amps.

Well only 4 months LOL later, I have a pair of box's with speakers playing in them!
They are all ready for some veneer, which I still need to order.
Put a solid effort in today and routed out the front facia after gluing it on. I made it larger than needed then used a trimming bit to trim it perfect flush.
Bought a 6.35mm trimming bit for the router to route out the slot port, which once again looks amazing, I was amazed how neat and perfect it looks, I was going to file the corners square, but like the radius created by the router bit.
I then spent a good 4 hours with some body filler and some sandpaper and got everything nice and neat ready for some veneer.
Also threw the dampening in, and had a good listen to them tonight.
They sound amazing, They don't play deep and low, like a subwoofer, but the bass lines are still very smooth and detailed, adding FAST to this set up which I did with my HT subwoofer gave the extra low end kick I wanted.
I'm a happy boy so far 😀
Some pics for you Zman!
No slot port, But edges are trimmed up
Now ported again
Some finished pics

Good to see that the boxes are playing music and you like the sound! Enjoy and plan on getting a cool looking veneer for these.
Hey ... Im very interested also 😀...

...
(Ok more on the sound than the appearance 😉 especially your activ concept!)
I think that could look really cool!Spec said:Im going for Bamboo veneer, Natural Vertical to be precise
Andy, they should kick some heavy *** running with a HP filter and a sub for low end duties, HP them 80-120 area, I like my midbass and thats about as high as the 30Hz Tapered Horn sub likes to play from what I have seen.
Ihope the veneer does look cool, it cost more to post than the veneer cost its self lol

Spec,
Any update on the project? Did you get a new amp?
Came across this:
Hifimediy DDX320v2 2.1 Digital Amplifier
Might be good for a simple FAST setup once they get the bug sorted out?

the HiFimeDIY amps are very good in general. I've got several and they sound very, very good. They say the bugs have been worked out on the DDX320v2, so this looks very promising indeed... direct digital input and no DAC required! No coupling caps either... An ideal 2.1 solution, and with built in remote control...gonna try this one soon!Spec,

So more updates, Amp parts have been ordered, Going to try the ICEPower 50asx2. I got everything ready for the amp and will cut a breeze audio case in half to house it and use the other half for a mini dsp 😀
Spec,
G'day!
Can't remember if I heard the 50asx2, but did listen to an ICEPower amp for some time and it was pretty good.
Enjoy! 🙂

Spec,
G'day mate and those turned out pretty smart. 🙂
I recall you had an LED installed inside the cabs - still got that?
