Choose a tweeter for me.

Is the CDC really as good as the much more expensive tweeters we've been discussing? I've heard it a few times, and while it seemed fine, to be honest, it didn't make a huge impression compared to, say, the SS 9900. But, again being honest, I might not have been giving it adequate attention. Can anyone link distortion data for it?

The SB is an excellent unit, especially for the price. The 9900 still has superior HD performance though, especially toward the lower end. Granted, you pay a lot extra. Worth it? I have a soft spot for the Revelator, so even though I'm normally biased toward metal domes and the SB has the greater Xmax, I'd probably still take the Scan. So shoot me. I'm a dinosaur. 😉

The "problem" that I see with the 9900 is that it's still a bare dome tweeter, the waveguide-like faceplate is too shallow to be really effective to control the directivity. Although if this is not a problem, then certainly still an exceptionally low distorting unit.

I have this, a bit unscientific I know as I don't always test at 1 watt or 1 metre as most things are done as a comparison or to verify one driver against another.

Taken in my living room, so a very short gate, but not a problem here.
Please use the info as basic data. Ignore peaks at 5K and 12Khz as it was not flush mounted in a test cabinet not much bigger than an LS3/5A.

2ng Harmonic white
3rd Harmonic green
THD yellow.

Pls dont hate me for this after asking advice.. Will come clean, chose the beryllium BlieSMa in the end, alot to do with cab design and mounting method- the small form factor and flat plate. I know its not perfect but has some interesting specs inc lightest dome mass of any tweeter it's size. Will cross around 2.3khz and add impedance correction circuit

Bill, good you had considered ringradiators. They the sort of drivers where off axis response is less than optimal, but they sound great. On axis is very flat, off axis creates dip ~10kHz. I prefered flat tuning or very mild uptilt ~1-2dB. The result is very easy to listen trebles, full of details, and top end sparkle which gives vivid presentation to whole system.
Anyway, T25B (if that is your choice) is better in all measurement aspects, and listening impressions will tell the last bit of whole story.

I don't always finish projects, so have friend helping out. Lockdown is a great opportunity tbh. Start baffles and bracing this wknd so need to decide if to mount tweet behind baffle or front, with shallow guide
