Are chokes useful in the PSU for Class AB solid state amps?

Chokes are not usefull in class ab amps as they impede the change in current draw by the amp. One of the laws of chokes. Cant remember the terminology but the simple version current of the amp increase, choke tries to bring it back to a constant value./ They are usefull in class A amps where current is constant

Chokes are useful in high voltage/low current applications such as for vacuum tubes.

Chokes are also useful in high current/low voltage applications such as for Class A S/E solid state.

More current change needs less windings for same effect, therefore less interwinding capacitance therefore higher resonant frequency.

though these chokes will not small or light or cheap...😉

Hi

The right choke between the rectifier bridge and the first
cap. helps to reduce current peaks in the diodes and in the
trasformer.
