Chip amp problems...maybe.

I finished my first 3886 and I hooked it up to my little mp3 player and it worked great. I hooked it to my guitar and nothing... Is a powered input a must? Or did I do something wrong?

I forgot to add, Its a board I made myself. No pot installed.

Yes, guitar needs powered input.

Your guitar also might be a balanced output.

you must provide a load that the guitar can drive.

i.e. the amplifier that the guitar feeds must have an input impedance specifically suited to your guitar.
The volume that comes out will be determined by the gains of the following amplifier chain.
