Isn't .5mm lamination too thick for and output?
i use them for power transformers and guitar amp outputs......
I though one would never build an audio trafo with at least .35 lamination (M6)
The frequency response will be limited by the core lamination, I don't think they can sound very good...
at our side of the world, 0.35mm lams are called Z11, an M6 equivalent.....i used them to build output traffos....
A dcr of 1.1 ohm on the 8 ohm tap is actually a pretty good result, I've not seen many that were better including the Tamura F-5002 (about 1 ohm) I used in some projects.
The last amorphous core output transformer for the 300B I made had:
primary DC resistance 58 ohm,
secondary DC resistance (8ohm) 0,13 ohm,
Primary inductance (static measurement) 25 H.
Low resistance windings are really very important; I don't understand why people take mediocre or worse output transformers to mate with what is regarded one of the best output tubes, but yes I know: output transformers don't glow....
For that Chinese OPT: take a triode connected EL34 or something like that, with a 300B the tube is "a flag on a **** boat" (translation of Dutch saying....).
No sure that a triode connected EL34 is worst than a Chinese 300B when inserted between a clean driver and a decent OPT 🙄
I agree, it shines less !
