I bought one of these filters from Amazon to quieten an annoying hum on my workshop system (which has 2 sound sources, one a PC, plugged into one switch box). It works remarkably well, but how? I can't find any info on the contents of the sealed shell, and I don't really want to break it to find out... does anyone know what's inside?
The answer is in the description; 'Ground Loop Noise Isolator'.
It is a transformer that sits in series with the signal, blocking any ground continuity.
That stops any ground loop between device and amplifier.

That's just what I thought too. But in that case I would have expected the thing below to have worked also, but it didn't. Maybe it's faulty? Though there doesn't seem to be much to go wrong.
If you make a comparison of two filters it would help to show pictures of internals of both and links to both. Otherwise we should search and loose more time to help you.
If you check back, you'll see my original query was to see if anyone knew the internals of the first item 🙂 ...
